Do-Follow & No-Follow Links Importance

Do-Follow & No-Follow Links Importance

Dofollow vs nofollow backlinks

To be realistic and to hit the nail on the head, every blog or website needs Dofollow backlinks and Nofollow backlinks to survive natural ranking these days of regular updates by the big “G”. You will be able to understand in this article what the Dofollow links and Nofollow links are and their importance.

Nofollow links will stop the link juice from spreading to other pages. But dofollow link enforces Google spiders to follow the link and index the page.

What is Nofollow link?

No follow link is set as nofollow, it means Google bot won’t crawl the link and won’t pass any link juice.

<a href= http://www.example1.com rel=”nofollow”>Example1</a>
<a href= http://www.example2.com rel=”external nofollow”>Example2</a>

REL HTML tag: Did you notice rel html tag? it’s set as nofollow, which means its a nofollow link. Even if nofollow link doesn’t pass any link juice but it can help to bring traffic towards your website, so if you are making No follow link then there is no harm. Google doesn’t follow these links, however other search engines respect them.
You can also make an entire post nofollow with the help of robots meta tag for that you can just add the below statement to the page/post.

<meta name=”robots” content=”nofollow” />
By adding the above statement you can make a whole post/page nofollow, All the links present on the page will be treated as nofollow even though they don’t have Nofollow rel tag.

Dofollow vs nofollow backlinks

OFF PAGE SEO
For every new blogger, the first thing which comes into mind is, how will my website hit Google search first page? If you are a newbie and searching the answer, it is very simple, you only need to improve your On page and Off page SEO. When we talk about Off page we mean building backlinks.

What is Dofollow link?

Dofollow link passes link juice and they definitely help you much, in order to achieve good page rank. As it instructs search engine spiders to follow this link.

<a href = http://www.sample3.com rel=”external”>sample3</a>

The above link is dofollow, generally when you left comment on other site, you will see links with rel external attribute, rel=”external” is just to represent that the link is external, it has nothing to do with backlink type. If you find no rel attribute in link then also its being treated as a dofollow link because it equals to REL Dofollow.

How to check whether links is dofollow or nofollow?

There are many ways to check dofollow and nofollow links, however I use only one method to identify the type of link. Let me explain this with an example. Suppose you commented on a blog and you want to check the link type.

Method:

Step1: Right click on the webpage and click on ‘view source’ it will display the type of link whether Dofollow or Nofollow

Step2: Search for the link you left in source code, press Ctrl+F and search for your website name or your comment. You will be able to know whether the comment you dropped has dofollow link or nofollow link, similarly you can also check which blog is dofollow and which one awards you with dofollow link.
